Watching Justice
With so much criminal activity going unpunished, it's time someone took the initiative to assume an active role in watching justice. While living in a world where justice is not always served, and the criminal is often treated better than the victim, it helps to know that others are looking out for us. The courts should be places where justice is served, but that is not always the case.

How often do we hear of cases that involve a criminal being able to walk because of a technicality? Those who are there to serve and protect often abuse the law in the name of justice and there is nothing private citizens can do. The legal system is no longer in the hands of the courts but is run by the criminals whose rights we must protect. The idea of watching justice being served is no longer one of which we can be proud.

Too many innocent people today are left to wonder what happened to justice. When a crime is committed, we are told to let the police handle it, yet many times the punishment is a mere slap on the hand with instructions to not do it again. Each of us is equally responsible for the job of watching justice, and we should take an active role in making sure any injustices are corrected.

Fortunately for many victims we have people who have taken on the responsibility of watching justice and bringing injustices to the attention of those who can do something about it. Organizations such as Watching Justice monitor the activities of the U. S. Justice Department and other agencies within Homeland Security and report their activities. This is only one organization, but it's a start. With more people who care, maybe we can change the travesties within our justice system.
